A Look Back-How I Got Started In Internet Marketing

I started online marketing two years ago as a complete newbie and my first website was NewbieMarketerOnline. Start With Article Writing

I outsource most of my article writing. Now, I typically only write for pet sites such as my Chris Farrell Review Site and customer websites. The heavy lifting at this point is article writing content for purposes of search engine optimization(SEO) and backlinking. To learn more about writing articles and its importance see my post on article marketing.

Writing content is a necessity and it can be tiresome and boring. So why not have someone else do it for you? Your time can be spent much better building sites for customers and doing research on keywords for your next mini-niche site (although mini sites nowadays need to be much more then they were only a year ago). But that’s another post.

Outsource Your Article

So we know article writing is an important element when it comes to gaining ground in the search engines and it is a “must do” if you want to help get your sites ranked well in Google. It can be tedious, takes research and can take a lot of your time; especially if you hate to write.

Outsourcing this task is the way to go and getting a quality 300 or 450 word article written on one or two keywords for a buck fifty ain’t bad. But not so fast! Content is not necessarily king, but quality content is king because not all content is created equally.

Finding a Quality Writer

I learned this the hard way so I’m going to give you some advise. I still consider myself somewhat of a newbie but back when I was ‘really’ new I decided to try my hand at outsourcing and hired a content writer. Crash and burn!

Not knowing what the heck I was doing I set out and hired someone to write 10 short articles for me so I could back link my parrot and bird training site. Long story short, I paid too much and ended up re-writing most of the material. I learned a little bit from that so here are some pointers for those of you who are considering hiring a writer.

Find an Article Writing Service

You won’t have any problem finding an article writing service because there are tons of them out there. I’ve tried a few and primarily use Odesk now. The services they offer are all pretty the same and you can find contractors of every flavor willing to do work for you.

The fees may vary but you can find professionals who will make you a simple logo all the way up to those who will design your website from top to bottom. But let’s just zero-in on the content writers for a moment.

Test Drive Your Content Writer

One thing you will learn very quickly is that it’s in the numbers. What do I mean? Well, you will have to go through many writers to find one who is reliable, dependable, can handle the work and most importantly; one who can freakin WRITE!

Now I’m no english major, nor am I the best writer but I do have a grasp of the english language. What you will find are a lot of writers responding to your request from foreign countries, many of them from India or the Philippines.

Their writing samples look acceptable but once you get the finished product from them oftentimes you find out you just got punked!

Understand me, I’m not trying to put down or insult anyone. I’m just sharing “my” personal experience here.

–Important– I would be less then transparent if I didn’t note, however, that I’ve only used foreign writers. They bid on my posts. I haven’t hired anyone from the U.S. yet and that may be because my price structure is too low.

In fact I’m sure that’s the case. Some people just won’t write a 300 word article for $1.50. Call me cheap.

That being said, I do have a couple of great writers, one from India and one from the Philippines who turn out well researched and written material. The problem can be finding one who has the staying power and can put out consistently.

Writing good articles does require a little work. You have to do some research if you’re not familiar with the topic and then be able to put it all together in an informative well thought out article.

Understand that many article writers have no idea or knowledge about the topics you’re giving them to write about.

So if you want someone to write you a quality article about electronic drums, personal fitness trainers or even orthodontics, for instance, just remember that they’re literally starting from scratch.

Many times you will find writers who simply go out to the web and snatch, or article scrape,  a sentence here and a sentence there and then throw it all together in an article that makes no sense at all. It’s very obvious so just be aware of this.

I believe this is very common and done often because there are many pieces of software available which can go out and scrape content from the web. Unfortunately many writers do this because they bid on tons of contracts, have tons of projects in progress and deadlines they really can’t meet.

So ‘they’ hire out their projects at lower rates to others who can’t write. Thus, you end up with a piece of badly written content.

I’m in the process of ‘test driving’ five writers now; one or two of which I hope will stay around for awhile.

Give Clear Instruction To Your Writers

I don’t consider myself anal, but it’s so, so, so frustrating when you think you’ve explained yourself and you get back something totally not what you wanted. Going back and forth with your writers can be a pain as well. So be very specific when when giving instruction.

Hire Someone to Write For You

It’s not all gloom and doom and you don’t have to have a great writer, just a good one. Writing content is a huge part of internet marketing and something that can’t be avoided.

Hiring a good writer will free up a lot of your valuable time so you can take care of other business. It will take some time to find someone who you’re comfortable with.

Of course if you’re willing to pay three to five dollars for an article I think it will cut down your ‘test drive’ time.

Outsourcing, like great management, simply means getting something done through the use of other people. In our case, as online marketers and web developers, content is king and is usually the first thing we outsource.

Those of you currently marketing online know how frugal Google has become and how they continually keep us on our toes, demanding quality content. Why? Because it’s all about the readers experience and providing people “what it is” they came to our site for in the first place, content and information. But all content is not created equal as we will see in a moment.

If you market any product or service online then you already know……..you have to write. Of course there’s a caveat to this because if you don’t like to write then of course you can outsource the job to someone else. But in beginning most of us simply do it ourselves until we reach the point to where we can farm it out. Those who really hate writing jump right into the various outsourcing agencies available online and just start hiring.

What Can You Outsource

Everything. If you know absolutely nothing about online marketing and decide that you want to create a niche site on a product you can outsource it. You can even outsource the initial keyword research, the building of the website including all the content, launch of the site and article writing to help create backlinks.

There is someone out there who will do it all for you. Of course it’s going to cost you a grip and you will have learned nothing in the process. Obviously, for anyone serious, it’s important to know how to fish instead of relying on someone to fish for you.

But outsourcing does have it’s place and it is a tremendous “tool” all serious marketers use to, some degree, once you get your footing in this great business.

I met an amazing internet marketer, Steve Gray, who mentored me when I first got started online and he outsourced practically everything. He controlled the number one element however; keyword research and product selection, but outsourced the rest.

Of course he purchased his own domains but after that, he was done! He made videos for his out-sourcers showing them, in great detail, how to set up his niche sites and later submit content to article directories.

This is not an extreme example and more common then you might think among the heavy hitters. But it is an example of what you should aspire to be able to achieve. Let others to the “heavy lifting” for you as soon as you are in a position to do so. Outsource it!

Article Marketing is a tried and true, bread and butter marketing strategy that works and will help you get ranked in Google, MSN and other search engines.

I consider it a staple and I use article marketing in conjunction with other SEO techniques to get on page one in the search engines.  That’s exactly how I got this website ranked.

Of course there are many other methods one can use to generate traffic to your website, but I highly advise article marketing as a weapon you must have in your arsenal.

Articles targeted towards your “niche” is one of the best ways to draw free targeted traffic. Plus, when done properly, you create valuable back links to your pages which in turn helps the search engines send you free “organic” traffic.

I Don’t Like Writing Articles

I Just Don’t Like To Write

The thought of writing content that others are going to read can be a bit scary to some people.

I have to admit; when I first started online I  was filled with angst at the thought of someone reading my material and picking it apart like my ninth grade English teacher.

I wasn’t particularly interested in writing either, in fact I’m still not. But the fact is this business is going to require/demand that you do some writing.

So if you have a problem with that here’s what you need to do. Get over it pal, fast.

Start Writing Right Where You’re At

If the thought of writing makes you apprehensive don’t let it because I’m going to show you how to overcome it. But understand this: You are going to have to do a little bit of writing as you begin setting up your web pages.

The best advice I can give you is to simply write in a conversation style. Just write as if you were talking to someone sitting right next to you.

What would you say to them? How would you explain to them that it really isn’t that hard to write a simple post, or demonstrate how easy it is to……write? See how easy that was.

The debate as to whether or not you should write your own content or have others do it for you is still ongoing. If you don’t mind paying for someone else to do it for you then go right ahead.

I’m on the side of the fence that believes it’s better to write your own content. Yes it can take a little time but the beauty of it is that you get to write your own stuff, your own way.

But of course you can acquire content from other sources.

Article Writing Resources

Outsource it

As I said, article writing is essential for any well rounded marketing campaign. Understandably you will want to setup your blog and web pages initially yourself. But when it comes to various articles and posts; this is something you can “get around” or have someone else do for you.

Content Scraping

This involves taking or “scraping” articles and posts from other websites and posting them on your own site. So if someone has a really great article which happens to be on your topic, you simply use it.

A variation of this, and more ethical method, would be to use someones content but leave their authorship and links intact.

Personally I would stay away from this sort of thing. But there’s nothing wrong with writing a brief introductory sentence or two and then placing a link to other resources related to the topic.

Freelancing and Outsourcing

Find a freelancer. There are tons of people and companies who will write your content for you.  In fact, you can even have your entire website designed and setup for you, complete with all the articles and posts you want.

Of course you have to know how to do it yourself before you can instruct someone on exactly what you want.

Here is a short list on some outsourcing companies. I have personally used Scriptlance and had mixed results. I connected with a writer from Thailand and she did everything I asked of her.

I had her do some re-writes and had to go back a couple of times for corrections, and she came through at the end, but I wasn’t totally happy with it, grammatically.

Article Spinning

The Spin Behind Spinning

Article spinning is another topic of much debate.  You either love em or you hate em; kinda like the Cowboys.

All it involves is taking an existing article and re-writing, or “spinning” the article into multiple variations. So what you end up with is 30, 40,50…..hundreds possibly, of articles generated from one original writing.

It’s a way to bypass the actual writing of multiple articles and it does come in handy. You can write one article, spin it, and then post it to as many article directories as you like.  Unique content is the key when it comes to using articles as back links and forum posts. Never post the EXACT same article in any two places.

I use The Bestspinner to spin my own articles and it does cut down on the time it would take to write as many.

Now here’s the spin. Spinners are not perfect and you still have to go through the spun article and check it for clarity, structure and flow. It’s a tool like anything else; something which makes your life a whole lot easier once you have the process down.

I like it because I can write an article once, spin it, and then go through and tweak the spin so I end up with multiple articles which all say the same thing a different way.  Then I simply post to my favorite article directories.

I personally think it’s best to learn how to write articles the way you want them. Then,,, later try a spinner and see how you like it.

If you would like a complete and very thorough walk through on article marketing take a look at Articles 4 Newbies. In this video course you will be taken by the hand and shown step by step how to get started writing articles and submitting them to article directory sites.

Aaron does a real good job at this. He explains the concept, then starts you from the beginning and shows you. He talks about title, body, tags anchors text, etc. It’s a put together very well, and although I learned it all through trial and error you’re sure to get all the basics down with this course.

You also get access to hundreds of articles which you can use to get started. You can use them for posts or even product promotion.  I personally didn’t find them all that helpful because I like to create my own topics.  But if you want instant content you may find them useful.

One of the best perks with this product is that you get full re-sell rights to it. That means you can take it, add your name, and offer it as one of your own products. It’s another way to get started if you want a product to start with.

Get Started

Writing is going to be a companion of yours one way or the other. So the best way to start is simple. Start writing. You’ll find that it becomes easier and easier the more you do it.

I’ve listed some tools here which you may want to take advantage of but be clear, these are just tools. Doing it all from scratch is always a good idea because you learn the PROCESS of how it all works.  As you grow you can add as many tools as you want to help speed things up. But you should learn how to walk before running.

Get Hooked On Your Dreams and Goals.

Are you living your passion?

Do you have a hobby? Most people do. I have several;drumming,bodybuilding and computers just to name a few. Internet Marketing is my passion as well, but treated as a business.

I’m passionate about all of them and the ability to flex between them equally can sometimes be challenging. So what do I do?

Time Management

Your ability to juggle work,family and other interests is going to reveal itself as a direct response of your ability to manage your time. It’s been said before but I’ll say it again; “There are only so many hours in a day” True. And, you can accomplish exactly what you want to…when… you manage your time. Avoid saying “I don’t have the time”

Make a list

How many of us actually do this? I USE to pooh-pooh the idea myself until I actually started doing it. Yes, make a list of exactly what you want to accomplish today, tomorrow and by March 2011.

We all have our “routine” of course and we outline, roughly, in our mind the additional things we “need” to do on any given day. But how often do we fall short?

How many times do you hear someone say, “Yea, I need to start working out”, or “I need to do this or that”? Oftentimes we fail to accomplish what we want to do or, know we need to do, not because of time restraints, rather, it’s because of time management or focus restraints.

But you notice when you must do something it usually gets done. Change your “need” to “must”.

Goals

What we end up with are goals of course; this is the down and dirty of it really. The achievement of any goal, no matter how small, keeps us moving forward and growing in life.

And isn’t that really what it’s all about? Having and living a more abundant life? Enriching our lives and then paying it forward in some way.

So get hooked, get passionate with as many hobbies as you want. You can do anything you want, just manage everything properly and you can effectively balance all those things you enjoy in life.

Courtney, What are you doing?

Internet Marketing…

Tell that to people and much of the time you will get a blank stare, a pause, and then another question. Most people understand that it has something to do with the internet but don’t necessarily know exactly what I’m talking about.

And that’s understandable because the perception of Internet Marketing varies from person to person.

Affiliate Marketing

A more appropriate response from me should have been: I’m an Affiliate Marketer, I build small (mini) niche web sites and sell other peoples products or services online. That’s pretty much it in a nutshell.

The term “Internet Marketing” is simply one method of “Marketing” a product or service; it’s just a medium. For instance, postal mail is a popular form of marketing which has been around for decades. Other marketing mediums are the obvious ones such as, TV, magazines,etc.

Internet Marketing is relatively new to the scene in comparison but it’s reach is awesome and very powerful. But the goal is the same no matter what method is employed: Find a problem and offer a solution. Advertisers have been doing it for years and with the advent of the internet it’s become common place as marketers do the same.

This is what I do through Affiliate Marketing online.

Marketing Models

So lets break this down even further because there are actually different “Models” of marketing online.

Some include:

Freelancing – ie. You’re a web graphics designer and make web banners for clients. You do the job,you get paid.
Auctions – ie. eBay,, Simply huge right?
Info Marketing – ie. Marketing digital products
Ecommerce – ie. Amazon or Shopping Cart Model
Affiliate – ie. Promoting others products or services. Promote the product, get a commission.

Many Internet Marketers make a full time income elusively simply by being an affiliate and marketing other peoples stuff. This is an excellent way to get started and it’s my method of choice as I continue development of my own product.

Developing your own products and services should be your ultimate goal of course. And by starting out as an affiliate you will gain experience and develop your marketing skills. So when it comes time to launch YOUR OWN product or service you will know exactly what to do.

There are many other advantages and benefits to starting out as an affiliate marketer. I will discuss this in another article where I go into great detail as I examine “Affiliate Marketing Explained”.

So lets get straight to the meat of it. The economy revolves around the buying and selling of products and services. So in order to make money online you have to provide a product or service right? Simple enough.

Your job is clear cut. You have to find a problem and provide a solution. Now of course there are thousands of problems and there is always a solution to be found.

The best type of problems to target for solution involve those which have high emotion attached to them, such as health, wealth and love.

Think about it, everywhere you look you see products and services based around these very strong emotional triggers. “Lose weight with this product”, “Get rich quick” and of course , “Find your perfect partner”. These are highly competitive markets as well and although there is always room to find your “niche” within them, I suggest you get your marketing “chops” in order first.

The biggest mistake brand new marketers make is jumping in the deep end and trying to “sell” how to make money products or get rich quick programs right away. You must learn “how” to market your product of choice first before you attempt to show someone else how to do it.

Be patient, pay your dues and LEARN YOUR CRAFT first.

So What Do I Promote Online

This is a subject with many varying opinions. Some will say to promote something you’re passionate about. Maybe something you have a personal interest in which may be a hobby.

Others say to promote “brand name” items because thats what people want. I say combine the two if at all possible and do them both because thats what I did. If you have a hobby like golf, cooking, exercise, music or even woodworking; you can find a product or service to promote.

The possibilities are infinite and there are more things to promote then you could ever do even if you wanted to. But here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter what you promote. The PROCESS is going to be the same and you must discipline yourself to follow a systematic approach.

Do Your Keyword Research

What are keywords? A keyword is a word or phrase you type in Google, Yahoo, MSN..etc. for something you’re searching for. A keyword can be “short”, one word, or “long tailed”, several words. So every time you search Google to find the answer for a “problem” you are using keywords.

Try this: Go to Google and type in this long tailed keyword “Chris Farrell Membership” without the quotes. Can you find this website? I followed the process I learned from Chris to rank this page where it is today.

I will be doing a detailed report on how to research a product but for now understand this: Keyword research is going to be one of the most important skills you will need to learn and master as you move forward.

It sets the stage for everything that follows. You can select a product based on keywords or select keywords based on a product. You will read varying opinions on this.

Your goal is to of course be on Page One of Google with your chosen keyword.  This is the first step for generating “Organic” traffic to your website. There are many, many ways to drive traffic to your website and this is ONE of MY preferred methods.

As you move along in the process you may prefer other methods. But keywords will always be a vital element, regardless of your methodology.

What Now?

If you have not done so I would recommend going through Chris Farrells free course on “A Web Business Explained“. It’s exactly what I followed to get started and simply put, it works. But you must go through it in order for it to work. Right?

You will learn how to get started by using one simple web page.

If you are brand new, it’s the perfect place to start. If you are not new but are still having problems seeing consistency in your marketing efforts it’s the best place to continue.

The  Truth About Internet Marketing

Ok, so what is the truth about making money online through Internet Marketing? Is it possible to earn a passive, or even full time, income online?  The short answer to this  is yes, of course you can. Making money on the internet is absolutely within reach of ANYONE who is  willing to do several things. But before I address that lets  first start by defining   Internet Marketing.

Internet Marketing is simply the process of  providing goods and services to others via the internet. There are many forms of E-Commerce and I.M. is simply one of them. As a “marketer” of online products your goal is to find a need and provide the solution for that need.   There are many ways to do this which I explain within other articles. But for now understand this:

You absolutely can make money online by building a simple website and learning how to drive traffic to your web pages. There are many people doing it so why can’t you?  The truth is that you can do it.

Do what? Most people don’t even know where to start or what to do. That’s why Affiliate programs are probably the best place for newbies to start. Affiliate programs are ready-made products and services developed by someone else which you can access and promote. You are basically an affiliate who sells other peoples stuff and get paid for it.

You simply have to find a program that fits you. Pick something that you believe in and something that’s going to get you motivated and keep you excited enough to take action and get started.

Understand one thing first. There are a lot of ways to get started making money online and I have chosen these four to share with you because they are great choices for the beginner with built in MODELS that you can follow which almost guarantees your success.

Notice I didn’t say absolute guarantee because the simple truth is that no one can guarantee your success  with Internet Marketing, or anything else in life for that matter.  Your success at generating any income online is totally dependent upon you and how much  time and effort you put into it.

Chris Farrell Membership

Chris Farrell is just one of many membership sites available to you which will help you get started. His membership fee is pretty low in comparison to similar membership sites online. It’s a relatively small membership site with a home like mom and pop feel. Other memberships sites, such as Wealthy Affiliates, are very large and do have additional resources which may fit your needs better. There’s nothing wrong with checking them out and doing your research. But if you are serious about The Chris Farrell Membership just join now. Chris offers a free seven day trial for $5.95 and if you decide to continue the membership will be only $37.00 per month as of this writing.

If you are still in the process of researching then here are some other options. The following are just a few ideas you may want to research. From monthly membership sites to individual training courses and affiliate programs.

Wealthy Affiliates

Wealthy Affiliates is one of the biggest and most successful Internet Marketing Websites in existence right now. They have a huge membership and tons of resources and training materials. There are a lot of Big Boys at this site. You will find everything imaginable at this site that will take you from a beginner to an advanced marketer. As of this writing they’re membership fee is only $39.00 a month but will soon be increasing. This site is definitely worth taking a look at. It’s packed with benefits which include way too many to list here.

One Week Marketing

This is simply a marketing course that you might want to consider if you’re not interested in a monthly membership. One Week Marketing was developed by Jennifer Ledbetter, better known as PotpieGirl. I can’t say enough good things  about PotPieGirl, she is simply wonderful. She is a member of Wealthy Affiliate and a major contributor in a big way.

She has put together an excellent program called One Week Marketing which is a great course for anyone who just wants a straight 1,2,3 step plan to follow along and get started. Check her out if you want to learn a no frills way of getting up and running fast with her one week method.  You can choose from two separate programs for a one time fee of$47.00 or $77.00

Take Your Pick

There are literally thousands of opportunities and internet marketing programs,courses,membership sites and how-tos for you to choose from. Most are legitimate, some are easier then others and yes, some are scams.

But here’s the thing, and there really is no way around this important fact.

You can do it. You can earn an ongoing income online just like a whole lot of people are doing right now. The fact that you’re here right now sets you apart from a bunch of people. In fact, it sets you apart from most people who don’t think outside of the box. People who are happy with trading hours for dollars working a job.

Now don’t misunderstand this. Most all of us have had a job right? I mean, we all need to put food on the table, that’s not what I mean. The essence of what I’m saying refers to how you’re thinking right now. Most people aren’t like you, meaning most people don’t believe it’s possible to earn and maintain a substantial income by marketing online.

Heck, my wife didn’t believe it until she started seeing checks. So don’t be surprised when even loved ones are doubtful, that’s simply just how most people think. It can be done, it just takes a little work. Which brings me to my next important point.

If you are in a  financial bind right now and need a paycheck in the next two weeks then the first thing you need to do is secure a means of immediate income. This is not a get rich quick endeavor and you wont be getting paid in two weeks. Nothing is that easy and I’m sure you really don’t believe that type of hype anyhow.

I say that with a bit of reluctance because obviously I don’t know what particular skills you bring to the table. But for the average person who knows absolutely nothing about internet marketing, I’m talking to you.

It’s a Toss Up

Now, if you flipped a coin and picked any one of the programs listed here you would be well ahead of the game because they are all quality memberships and courses. But here is the caveat.

It doesn’t matter what you choose, you are going to have to put in the time and DO the work to be successful. Period.

All of these methods give you an edge with step by step instruction and even one on one support if you need it. But all of it is worthless if you think someone is going to do it for you.

You have to make a true decision and make it happen. I don’t want to run this into the ground but the fact is that most people get started and fall short just before they see success because of impatience and having the wrong expectations. So don’t let that happen to you. I’m giving you the hard facts.

You most likely ended up here because you are seriously considering a Chris Farrell Membership and want more information, great. I pull no punches when I express how I think Chris’ site is the perfect place for the beginner. But if you’re not ready to invest $27 a month (soon to be increased) then find a program that you’re comfortable with and get started. Or join Chris right now. Either way, do something and get started.

What To Do Now?

1.  Decide what you want to do –

Making a true decision is the first step. Stop worrying about what other people say and don’t be fearful. Stop looking for proof that this or that will work.Yes it works. If you follow a specific plan of action which all of these programs lay out for you in a step by step fashion. Don’t try to re-invent the wheel.

2.  Take action and make it happen

How many times have you heard that before. Take action take action,,, you here it so much that it sounds like a punch line. Why do we say it so much? Well, for those of us who have done it we know the ‘Power’ of it. It’s so simple but yet so true, so simplistic that we miss it. But when you do it and see the results of it you will know what I’m saying. Are you feelin me?

3.  Don’t quit.

“Never give up, never surrender” That’s my wife’s favorite line from a popular movie we love to watch over and over again. You have to stay focused and determined. I’m sorry there is no free lunch pal. Making money online is not hard but it is work, consistent work.

Failing is not failure but giving up is. That’s what I tell my daughter and that’s what I believe. So what do you believe? Do you believe you can do it? That really is the most important question isn’t it? Remember what your parents always said…. “You can do anything you put your mind to”

You have to learn how to stop procrastination or it will stop you……dead in your tracks.

We all procrastinate to one degree or another but when you get started with online marketing, or any venture for that matter that takes time to build, you simply can’t put things off. You have to set goals and get moving.

Why Do We Procrastinate?

There are many reasons we procrastinate and if you get into the habit of not doing things it will be harder to break the cycle. The reason we typically don’t take action on certain objectives is because we don’t consider them a “must“, we tend to consider them as a “need to do” item. So, something we need to do isn’t as important as something we must do.

For example. We all know we need to do our taxes so it can wait, right? But as soon as April 13th rolls around we know we must get it done.

Aside from this; another reason for procrastination boils down to one of two things. We avoid taking action because we associate “taking action” with some type of pain. This pain can be physical, financial, emotional or otherwise but it is real. 

When you fail to “do” something; in one way or another whether you realize it or not you are attaching, or associating,  something negative to that action. That’s why you procrastinate.

How Do I Stop Procrastination?

The key to over coming and stopping procrastination is to change your mind, change your “need to do” to “must do” and stop associating taking action with a negative result. By changing your mind you “must” associate any action, and it’s outcome, in terms of what you will be gaining instead of what you will be losing.

In other words, If you need to quit smoking stop thinking about what you’re losing and think about what you will be gaining. If you need to lose weight stop thinking about what you can’t eat and what you’ll miss out on.

You can fill in the blanks yourself. This is obvious but of course too many times we look at the glass as half empty instead of half full.

Exercises To Break The Cycle of Procrastination

Need to do list
Start by exercising self control and self discipline.  I’m a big believer in making a list to keep yourself organized and focused. And, this is the first thing you should start doing on a regular basis. But don’t title it “need to do list.” What should you title it???

When you make a list of things you must do you’ve taken a big first step in breaking the cycle of procrastination.

How?

1. You actually made a list (this in itself is something you could have ‘put off’)
2. You set small goals (the goals are within the list itself and when you complete them you have a success)
3. Positive association (how do you feel about what you’ve done?)

Don’t under estimate the power of this small action. It may not seem like much at first but by simply writing this stuff down you are creating a powerful psychological condition within yourself as well.

You took action and after you “complete” the task you have committed to you will feel good and more confident about the next thing you have to do. This small success is powerful and you must allow it to be because it’s one small part of the process. You need to train yourself ‘how’ to be consistent and take action on things which must be done.

Avoiding pain
I had a very good debate with a family member recently concerning human nature, fear, pain and why we do the things we do. If you take a moment and get very honest with yourself you will realize that everything we do, or don’t do, is a direct quest for the achievement of some type of pleasure or the avoidance of some type of pain.

Think about it….

Your goal is to make yourself conscious of this at all times.  You must be aware of the ‘why‘ behind the decisions you make and actions you take. Sure, you make choices every minute of the day but when was the last time you really drilled down and honestly asked yourself why you took a certain path.

This can get complicated and convoluted as you dive into the psychology of this but the one thing I want you to get from this is that your sub-conscious drives your decisions. So changing the ‘how and why’ you do things involves awareness.

Stop, think, and take positive actions that are not based on fear or based on avoidance of pain. When you do this on a consistent basis you will in effect be “training” your brain to consistently and effortlessly allow you to make the choices that always move you in the positive direction you really want to go.

It’s All About Your Personal Development

Learning not to procrastinate is only one part of your personal development that you will need to work on to be successful in online marketing. Chris Farrell talks a lot about how you have to have the right mindset when it comes to building an online business. You can learn more on the Chris Farrell website.

You will eliminate procrastination altogether as you strengthen your other personal development skills as well. Having a positive attitude, goal setting, decision making and of course taking action are all interrelated activities you must learn to master. Use your passion as a resource and inspiration to draw from and it won’t seem like work.

Think about this and apply it. Stop procrastination by first making a list of projects you must do. Then,,, go do them.

Changing bad or unwanted habits is going to be a process and will require some work; so setting yourself up for success is vital. Having successful outcomes is ‘habit forming’ and that can only be achieved when you take positive action.

Start Now

Take the first step right now and write down three things you must do within the next three days. Make your list right now. Complete your list.

You will achieve one small positive success to build upon. Over time you will notice that you don’t have to consciously force or push yourself into consistent behavior patterns. The best of you will flow naturally. It’s a great feeling that you can only experience when you’re in the midst of it. So don’t procrastinate, go do something.

Developing Self Discipline and exercising self control can be a monster!  Anybody who has ever had a bad habit (and this means you too) knows how hard it can be to actually discipline ones self to do what you know you should be doing.

Having self control, and the ability to effortlessly choose the right course of action in every area of your life, is challenging but can be made easier as you ‘exercise’ your will and judgement skills.

This of course involves understanding how beliefs, decisions and actions work in tandem with being disciplined, and how these factors influence your ability to “do”, or “not do” something.

Pick a category…. Financial, Spiritual, Family, Work.  It’s moot, and really doesn’t matter because the main category should be ‘Personal’. It’s all about you.

How To Have Self Control

When you consider what it takes to consistently exercise self control and self discipline you have to take a deep look inside and ask yourself what will the end result of this ‘action’ be? If you want to lose weight or build muscle, exercise. If you want to make more money by starting your own online business, read everything on this, chrisfarrellincome website :-)

Now some will say “sure, it’s easy to say all of this but how to I actually do it?”

Self Development Exercise

If you’ve read some of my other posts you’ll understand my philosophy better on developing self control and self discipline, but in a nutshell here’s how I approach this.

1.  Decide what you want (in every area of your life)
2.  Make a true decision
3.  Sure-Up your belief system (what do you believe and why)
4.  Set goals (short term and long term)
5.  Make a daily list (follow it)
6.  Take action (go do something)
7.  Evaluate (change/modify/repeat)

This is not a “do it” and then it’s done proposition. Each of these steps should be thought of as ‘living and breathing’ self development and self control principles which you follow and adapt as necessary given how life’s challenges change.  Over time however, you will notice that this all becomes natural and the best things in life simply flow as a result of how you walk in your daily life.

Much of this comes downs to patterns and habits which all of us have developed over time; the good and the bad. The idea here is that you “learn” how to change those unwanted patterns into more productive ones which will ultimately allow you to have the life you want.  It’s not rocket science and there’s nothing new in these principles.

Change your mind and change your life. You are where you are today because of what you “did” yesterday. Make this work for you by pulling from what you’re passionate about and believe in, both emotionally and spiritually.

Learn how to set goals and do it often. Setting, and, achieving goals is one of the most powerful and exhilarating self development activities you can do for yourself and your personal growth.

You accomplish goals every single day of your life. You do it unconsciously; we all do. A simple task of making a cup of coffee is a completed goal. Simple but the nonetheless a completed goal.

But what about big goals? Why should you set big goals? I believe you should set three types of goals; short term, mid term and of course long term. Short term goals could be things you need to accomplish within hours or weeks. Mid term goals are those things which will take months and long term goals would include matters to be completed over years.

The time you set on completing goals is relative. The important thing is that you “set personal goals.” Setting goals is a like constructing a road map for your life’s success. It adds structure, purpose and a plan for your personal development.

We all need goals to help and keep us moving forward in a positive direction in life. For the most part we walk through life completing goals, much of the time unconsciously, but we have a direction in mind because it’s pretty much loosely defined within us.

But setting “solid”, specific and challenging personal goals is a “goal” you should commit to right now. By doing so you will enhance your quality of life, self esteem, belief system and ability to reach your full potential in every thing you do. How To Set Personal Goals

Many people feel as if they’re adrift in the world. They work hard, but they don’t seem to get anywhere worthwhile.

A key reason that they feel this way is that they haven’t spent enough time thinking about what they want from life, and haven’t set themselves formal goals. After all, would you set out on a major journey with no real idea of your destination? Probably not!

Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality.

The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. You’ll also quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead you astray.
Why Set Goals?

Goal setting is used by top-level athletes, successful business-people and achievers in all fields. Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation. It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organize your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life.

By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals, and you’ll see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind. You will also raise your self-confidence, as you recognize your own ability and competence in achieving the goals that you’ve set.

Starting to Set Personal Goals

You set your goals on a number of levels:

First you create your “big picture” of what you want to do with your life (or over, say, the next 10 years), and identify the large-scale goals that you want to achieve.

Then, you break these down into the smaller and smaller targets that you must hit to reach your lifetime goals.

Finally, once you have your plan, you start working on it to achieve these goals.

This is why we start the process of goal setting by looking at your lifetime goals. Then, we work down to the things that you can do in, say, the next five years, then next year, next month, next week, and today, to start moving towards them. Continue Reading Full Article

Setting Goals

Remember, when you learn how to set goals and get in the habit of consistently achieving them; it translates over into every facet of your life. Your self motivation and confidence will rise to a level you didn’t know was possible.

It’s very important to set small, short term goals daily and complete them. There’s no better feeling then completing a goal. Getting that sense of success and achievement from completing small goals enables you to complete mid term and long term goals easier. The bottom line is you have to take action. Chris Farrell is a big believer in this and stresses this often in his, “Having the correct mindset” teachings.

Success with anything comes in small doses so start right where you are with something small. Each success will encourage you to continue onto the next challenging goal. And, before you know it you will have accomplished something astounding. Get started now by writing down three things you know you need to do in the next two days. Be Positive, think positive and have a positive attitude are are a few of the quote,,, “How to be positive” phrases we have all heard over and over time and time again. Years ago there was once somewhat of positive thinking movement in which we were all bombarded with how just thinking positive would make everything in our lives fine.

Of course “just thinking positive” has little thunder behind it if you are  ill-equipped to  parlay that emotion into a positive ‘action’ which is going to give you a positive result.  Having a positive attitude is a wonderful ‘first step’ to long term happiness and success; but you have to do more.

Take positive steps, or actions, daily which move you towards specific goals you set for yourself. Here’s an easy example. Let’s say you make a decision that you need to go to the dentist to get a tooth fixed. Once you make that decision the first thing you should do is pick up the phone and make the appointment. Don’t put it off, procrastinate or stall. Never leave a decision on the table without first taking some small ‘positive’ step towards achieving it. This is a simple example but should be applied to everything in life.

Surrounding yourself with positive like-minded people is also a great idea.  It’s natural to associate with people who think the way we think and like the things we like so seek out those who are going to edify you and not pull you down. Here’s a great article from the Law Of Attraction Library

How To Attract Positive People

According to the law of attraction, we’re always transmitting positive or negative energy. Others pick up on this and respond likewise.

When you attract like-minded positive people, together you can focus on obtaining your desires. Positive people will encourage and support you. On the other hand, negative people will tell you that you can’t achieve your goals, and that they’re too hard or unreachable.

If you’re continually bombarded with negative phrases in your thinking, such as “I just can’t make ends meet,” “There’s never enough,” or “I just can’t seem to get ahead,” then you’re attracting more negativity into your life.

The universe will always respond to your song, so make your song harmonious with your desires, not your frustrations!

If you find yourself focusing on your small paycheck, physical ailments or unfulfilling relationships, it’s time to make a change. Maybe your parents were role models of criticism instead of encouragement, or maybe you’ve always surrounded yourself with negative friends.

Whatever the reason, it’s time to break this cycle of negativity. Consider raising your standard of expectation. Find people to associate with who emit positive energy.

When seeking other positive people, think of people you admire and identify their traits you especially enjoy. You’ll be generally attracted to people who have a similar sense of humor or who hold the same set of values.

Here are some ways to attract positive people and create more positive energy in your life:

• 1.      Look for positive qualities in other people. It’s far easier to see someone’s faults before seeing their goodness. Challenge yourself to look only for a person’s good qualities.
• 2.      Be aware of your own finest qualities and project these qualities to the world. This contributes to your self-awareness and increases your self-esteem.
• 3.      Exercise compassion toward everyone, including yourself. Negative energy obsesses about unattainable goals. However, positive energy allows us to realize when we’re doing the best we can.
• 4.      Value others’ opinions. Positive energy is open-minded. Listen to all points of view and do your best to understand them, regardless of how different from your own they are.
• Trying to change someone’s mind is usually futile, so, even if you’re right, save your energy, understand their opinion, and move on.
• 5.      Refrain from judging. Give others the benefit of the doubt. Negative energy is critical in judging others and loves finding fault. Judging produces negative energy and attracts more of the same back to you.
• 6.      Be honest. Express your true self in thoughts, words, and actions.
• 7.      Don’t be afraid to admit to having occasional negative thoughts and emotions. We’re all human, and negative thoughts are a part of human nature. The key is not to dwell on them.
• 8.      Celebrate the success and happiness of others. Negative energy is jealous, but positive people are thrilled when others succeed. Use someone else’s success as a motivator to make you a better person.
• 9.      Balance fulfillment and serving others. If you spend your life trying to please others, you may find yourself ignoring your own needs. Positive energy is balanced.
• 10.  Persevere in spite of fear or defeat. We all experience defeat and disappointment! Rather than bemoaning a setback, use it as a chance to learn something new and prepare for your next challenge.

Being positive and having a positive attitude is not something we are all just born with. You actually have to ‘learn’ how to be positive. Having the right attitude and a positive nature is part of developing a total shift in your overall mindset.

It means making conscious decisions on a daily basis and taking positive actions towards making those decisions a reality.  The positive outcome of the choices you make will yield good, positive results; which in turn will strengthen your belief system in your own abilities. This of course leads to a more positive attitude. And…. the cycle repeats.

Who are You? Self development starts with understanding exactly who you are, what personal gifts you already have and what personal qualities you want to obtain to make yourself a better person and enrich your quality of life.

This means taking an honest hard look at yourself from the inside out, and analyzing yourself objectively. I like to think that we all want to better ourselves as we aspire to do more, achieve more, learn more and help others more. So, this of course means slowing down every once in a while and taking a look at ourselves. It’s a necessity that is sometimes ugly when we honestly peek inside our souls; admittedly rooting out something that shouldn’t be there and replacing it with something better.

Why not work on enhancing the personal gifts and qualities you already possess? What are YOU good at doing? What really motivates and inspires you to take action? Start your self development with those things.  Jimmie Burroughs wrote a nice article on “Knowing Yourself” and developing your personal gifts. Here’s a segment from his post I found inspiring.

It was Socrates who said, “Know Thyself.”  What great advice!  We could add to that, to thyself be true and love thyself even as you love others. When we begin to explore who we really are, we come face to face to who God and his creation is also; it answers the questions about what makes us tick and respond as we do; it enables us to take into stride the events of life without fear. It washes away the doubts and negative feelings of life. “You are your own raw material. When you know what you consist of and what you want to make of it, then you can invent yourself.” – Warren G. Bennis.

To understand yourself is to understand what you are made of, what your properties are and how to best develop them and to conform them to the image you desire. Often parents make the mistake of not understanding that each person is a unique, individual creation of God, with different desires and gifts and so they sometimes try and direct their children into the same career that they are involved with. That is okay, if that happens to be the interest of the children, and they are also gifted in that same area, but otherwise it could be a sentence of misery and failure.

Understanding ourselves and what our particular gifts are is crucial to finding the purpose and meaning in life that brings satisfaction. Ask yourself:  What gives me meaning and purpose? When you know the answer, then that is the direction you should go with your life and not what someone else may prescribe.

It may sound to you as if I’m talking just too young people, but I’m also talking to you if you are older. It’s great to discover ourselves when we are young and then begin early in life to pursue our purpose, but it does not always work out that way. For me it was much later in life, but later is better than not at all.

How does one gain both an objective and subjective understanding of themselves? Subjectively, we search our own heart for specific, unique interests. It was easy for me to rule out any kind of medical career because it had absolutely no appeal to me. The thoughts of being a surgeon, and cutting another person open were something I could not handle. I understand the great services doctors and surgeons perform, but it is for those who desire it and are gifted for it. So it is with any direction in life. Deciding to pursue something on the grounds that it pays well or that is a family tradition is a poor way to plan your future.

It does take some soul searching, and some knowledge of the creator to uncover the deepest desires of the heart, but in time it will become clear. Objectively, others will tell you, from time to time, what you are good at, and from that you can consider if it is true and if it is something that you want develop.

Self development and personal growth is a process folks. Everybody has natural talents and abilities which are just innate. Grow “your” personal gifts. Work on all the positive things that you’re good at and build them up. Look at ways you can improve on what already inspires you. As I’ve read and listened to the words of the most influential people in the field, I’ve identified 10 common principles that all of these men and women espouse. I call them The Ten Principles of Personal Development. Here they are, in no particular order:

Success is one part chance and NINE parts effort. Simply put, you are where you are today because of what you did yesterday.

NewbieMarketerOnline, was actually the first website (a simple page) I ever designed.

It was basically a squeeze page designed to collect email addresses from which I later would submit offers to. It wasn’t much but it was a start.

Change Is Good

Much has changed in the last two and a half years and I no longer promote this site. I’m actually in the process of updating it because it does get traffic by default as a result of my other internet marketing activities. NewbieMarketerOnline was once the launch pad for my business and is tied to many of my other sites because of my earlier, and beginner efforts online.

My most popular website is this one, ChrisFarrellIncome.com; as it was my first major project after getting my feet wet with online marketing. I worked many months on it getting it ranked to a decent point and even today it still jumps around. It’s a steady money maker but the point is…. it wouldn’t be if I hadn’t taken action and actually done something.

So again I will say, “You are where you are today because of what you did yesterday“

Success Comes In Small Doses

Believe that you can “do anything you want” and you will do exactly what you want. I wrote blog post on this very subject as I reflected on what my mom used to say. You can read the full post here.

No one simply ends up successful. You have to do something and that means taking action. It won’t happen fast but it will happen. It starts as a trickle and before you know it…….

There’s a lot that can be said here but I’ll defer to what I’d like to refer to as my “epilogue”. This is a short attachment I added to my eBook many months after I first wrote it and it best describes how I view success.

Success isn’t so much about making money as it is “enjoying” what you’ve committed yourself to doing. And, getting satisfaction out of it.

It’s been a little more than a year and half since I started my internet marketing business. When I wrote this ebook I was about four months into it. As I look at it, I smile to myself and reflect on what I was going through at the time.

I had started to make sales and although they weren’t as consistent as I would have liked, I knew there was more to come as I stayed focused and committed.

I ask myself, now, how much of what I shared deep down was really for my own benefit and “call” to consistent action. And how much of it was out of a desire to help people like you who may be struggling. I think both to be true.

It’s been a while since I’ve read it but I hold fast and still firmly believe everything stated here. You can do anything you want!

As of today I have great ranking on many of my websites and look forward to getting my Clickbank check every time my sales meet my threshold.
Building websites is the bread and butter of making money online and I’ve learned a great deal over the past year. Don’t let this “necessity” scare you.

You HAVE to build sites, optimize them and just let them go. In fact my top money maker is not a fancy site at all, but, it does provide the “content” and optimization necessary to draw traffic and thus,,, sales.

I’ve expanded over the last four months and I’m now helping local business owners by building well optimized targeted websites. This was a natural progression for me as building sites for myself was required. Now I get to make additional income on a whole other level. Coupled with the “passive income” from targeted product sites makes it all the better.

I’m working my business full time now and I’m having a blast.

If there is one thing I would reiterate now that I have a little “more” experience under my belt; it would be this. Decide, plain and simple. Just make the decision that nothing will stop you. And, second; Get Educated.

It’s no small secret I’m a fan of Chris Farrell , Jennifer Ledbecker (potpiegirl) and Andrew Hansen. These are among some of the most honest and talented online marketers I know.

I got my feet off the ground with Chris Farrell, later learned how to apply my skills building websites for local businesses with Jennifers free P3 course and enjoyed plenty of free stuff from Andrew Hansen too.

There is a ton of free information out there. Get all you can read. Read all you can get. Take action and you’ll see. ‘You can do anything you want.’

Taking action

You hear it all the time and it’s like a war call, “take action”, “take action.” Anyone will tell you, if you don’t take action nothing gets done.

Of course we all know this is true and it goes for anything you do in life. You get what you want out of life by actually putting in the work and “doing” something.

Your biggest enemy and obstacle to taking action will be procrastination.  This is a separate topic itself but must be mentioned because in a very real sense procrastination is “married” to in-action. Procrastination means not taking action.

This = That

If you don’t work you don’t eat. If you don’t watch what you eat and exercise regularly, you will gain weight and be unhealthy. And, if you don’t schedule that dentist appointment, you can’t get that tooth fixed.

So we know we need to take action in order for something to happen. Whatever it is that you WANT to happen isn’t the real issue. The issue is WHY do we fail to take action?

Fear And Doubt

If you drill down deep enough you will discover that you fail to take action because of some type of fear or doubt. Think About IT…. Outside of a physical, or addictive condition, most people fail to take action on things because of some type of emotional element which is USUALLY attached to fear or doubt.

What action have you avoided taking because of fear or doubt?

Do you need to get in shape but haven’t gotten started because you know it will take work and you’re afraid you can’t do it. Did you try and fall short in the past?

Do you have a bad habit you know you need to stop but doubt you can really do it? Are you afraid of what you will lose as opposed to what you will gain? Are you lazy or fearful?

Fear of failing is probably the biggest reason most people don’t even attempt to do the things they want to do; it’s painful when you fail and who wants pain? Surprisingly, we normally don’t identify fear or doubt as the problem. We come up with other “excuses” such as time, family, money, or work.

We have all used these reasons but the truth is they are simply excuses we create to justify “the why” I can’t do this or do that.

It doesn’t matter what your conditions are. When you must to eat, you find a way. When you must to get to work, you find a way. When you must take care of your sick child, you find a way.

When you MUST to do something you always find a way. Right? If you Should or Need to do something it might not get done. YOU TAKE ACTION WHEN YOU MUST.

Taking action is always preceded by a thought. When you get an idea or ponder a situation, you either act upon it or you don’t. Your ability to “ACT” or take action will determine your future conditions.

Your conditions are a direct result of your past actions.

So…..logically, if you want to change something you have to take some sort of action.

OK Courtney…sure, this all sounds interesting but how do I get myself to take consistent action? What do I need to do??

Change Your Mind

Everything starts with your mindset and the way you think about things. Yes, I mean everything.

Without getting too deep into it just realize this:

Your thoughts control your actions and your actions control every outcome in your life. Your belief and faith is probably the most powerful of all because if you truly “believe” you can do anything you set your mind to, you can.

Put all of this together and you will have a solid recipe for success. You will know that nothing will stand in your way. You will know that you will either find a way, or make one. It all starts with your mind and what you choose to focus on.

If you’re not happy with something…….change it!

Believe that you can and then Decide

Taking consistent action and constantly moving towards the things you want to accomplish means:

1. Truly “Deciding” that you must do something. It cannot be a “should” or “need”, it has to be a “must”
2. Set a deadline. It can be 5 minutes, 5 hours or 5 days away but you “must” set this time frame or else your “decision” is not real.
3. Do it! Is it really easier said then done? What do you believe??

Taking action is actually the easy part. The hard part is the process leading up to the decision. Fear and doubt lead to over thinking and procrastination; which fuels indecision and excuses which ultimately leads to nothing getting done.

The quality of your life is not the result of your conditions,it’s the result of your decisions.  Your destiny is actually shaped at the moment of any decision.

In my eBook “Newbies Guide To Internet Marketing“, “Decisions” is the very first point of discussion that I address. I start with decisions because they are the most vital,, and your ability to make “true” and solid decisions will affect everything in your life, regardless of the issue at hand.

We make decisions hundreds of times a day,both small or great, and the results of those decisions subsequently shapes our entire lives.

Importance Of Decisions

Since we make decisions so often it’s  easy sometimes to overlook the importance them. And, oftentimes we don’t recognize that we made a bad decision until we encounter unwanted consequences. But in all fairness to the truth, many times we knowingly make bad decisions.

Decisions are powerful, and your ability to make true decisions gives you the power to do virtually anything you want in life. Why? Again, it’s because our destiny is shaped in the moment of decision making. The “result” of every decision determines the quality of our lives in every area.

What Is A True Decision

Truly Decide

We make hundreds, or even thousands of decisions a day without giving it a second thought. “what am I going to eat?”, “What will I wear?” “What TV show do I want to watch?”…. and so on. Some might consider these small decisions, but even a small decision can change the path or course of your life.

And what about obvious big decisions? The ones that truly set our path in life;college, marriage, career choice? Every action we take is preceded by a decision which sets in motion a cause and effect. An effect which produces a result. Are your decisions producing the results you want?

So how do we consistently make great decisions which produce positive results? By being aware of how we make those important decisions.

Exercise your decision making muscles by making decisions which have an attachment of commitment backing them.

• A true decision is one in which you are totally committed to achieving.
• A true decision is not a “need”, it is a “must”.
• A true decision is not casual or diluted down with an ‘out clause’

A decision is a choice, and because we choose so often on a daily basis we tend to become numb to the importance of our choices.

Here is a common scenario:

You “decide” that you want to get in shape so you plan to join a gym or fitness center. It’s October but you’ll begin in January because it will be the new year and a great time to start. Good idea right? January arrives and since you’ve been talking so much about how much you “need” to get in shape you sign up and join the gym.

You’re excited to get started so you begin by working out several days a week. Your body gets a little sore, you don’t see, or get, the results you hoped for and it becomes difficult to find the time to work out, or so it seems.

It’s only been three weeks but hey,,, this isn’t working, besides, I just don’t have the time.

So did you make a true decision in the first place, or did you find a reason to make an excuse in order to justify quitting? Many times we discover excuses because we find out that the very thing we want is going to require……..work.

Apply this scenario to any area of your life, physical, emotional, mental, spiritual or financial… doesn’t matter. Your end goal isn’t the issue, the only issue is that you make a true decision backed by a serious level of commitment.

Every good thing is going to require a TRUE decision supported by unyielding determination. Your commitment to your decision is further supported by your actions, which is what I will cover next.
